Last week, Disney+ premiered the first two episodes of the highly anticipated installment of Marvel television, Agatha All Along. Despite a slow and non-magical start, this series portrayed the witchy goodness that fans had been craving, resulting in some mixed reviews from the fandom and critics.
Nevertheless, the show must go on, which brings us to Agatha All Along Episode 3, which picks up after Agatha and her coven find themselves on the Witches’ Road and continue their journey. Once again, we’re in awe of Kathryn Hahn’s performance, and will dive into other details of the episode in this review!
Does Everyone Survive the First Test?
As the eccentric coven embarks on the Witches’ Road, their awkward and relatively new dynamics inject a delightful sprinkle of humor into the eerie atmosphere. This tone expertly captures Agatha’s personality, which is consistent with her character development throughout the series and previously showcased in WandaVision back in 2021.
Debra Jo Rupp as Mrs. Hart or Sharon especially stands out at the start of Agatha All Along Episode 3, and despite being a potential liability to the coven, we’re glad she’s here. While most of the witches are tensed about the trials and proving their skills without any magic, Teen is often hopeful, but his positivity certainly isn’t contagious.
If you were concerned about the series not being interesting enough or magical enough in the first two episodes, then be prepared to change your mind. As they continue their journey, Jen spots a house amid all the chaos, and once the coven enters the house, they’re transformed, and for once, Mrs. Hart doesn’t hate where she is, all thanks to the kitchen.
At this house, the coven finds an invitation, and while Agatha hopes it isn’t a baby shower, it is an invitation to their first trial. It’s a riddle, the answer is fairly simple, and all they have to do is drink wine. Easy, right? While all of them, apart from Teen pour themselves a glass of wine, Agatha is the first to cheat and pour it into a plant, and it doesn’t take long for others to figure it out.
The hallucinations after drinking the wine, and yes Agatha drank it too, are easily the scariest part of the series so far, and bring the true touch of horror. This episode does not disappoint and thank god they had a potions witch in the mix.
After some terrifying moments, a mention of Wanda, and a brief appearance of the Darkhold, the coven manages to escape the house after drinking the antidote, which sends them back to the Witches’ Road.
Conclusion
Agatha All Along Episode 3 ends with a shocking cliffhanger as Teen pronounces Sharon, aka Mrs. Hart dead. Nobody had expected this ending, not even the coven, but here’s the thing about Marvel – does anyone really die this soon?
