Onur Bilgetay’s latest movie, A True Gentleman, follows the life of a male escort, and how everything changes for him after he begins to fall in love. Bilgetay’s previous work includes movies like Brother in Love, UFO, and Eltilerin Savasi, all of which have left us intrigued about his latest project.
A True Gentleman has a runtime of 1 hour and 50 minutes, and frankly, it goes by like a soft breeze. However, if you’ve been sitting on the fence, wondering whether or not this movie is worth a stream, we recommend reading our review of the same, which will give you the insight you’ve been looking for!
Çagatay Ulusoy and Ebru Sahin Deliver Stunning Performances!
A True Gentleman introduces the protagonist, Saygin, in the smoothest and sexiest manner they possibly can. The movie starts with him explaining his work, and why he does what he does.
Saygin puts a gentleman-y spin to being a male escort, and when watch him spin a situation his way, it is evident that he knows how to deal with women, in the best way possible.
Saygin is played by the very talented Çagatay Ulusoy, a Turkish actor and model who has previously appeared in movies like Delibal, Paper Lives, Adını Feriha Koydum, and Insider. Ulusoy does a splendid job of playing this particular role, which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but he does so effortlessly, adding plenty of charm to A True Gentleman.
His life is far from simple, and that goes beyond his line of work, which is also often met with complications. However, Saygin is in for a real challenge when he meets a woman he finds himself falling for instantly.
The connection between them is the kind that people write about in books, but of course, happily ever after isn’t right around the corner for him and Nehir.
Nehir and Saygin’s love story moves slowly and steadily with his career in the backdrop as he attempts to handle it all at once. There are moments of heartbreak scattered around A True Gentleman, but they don’t always revolve around romantic love, which is one of the better parts of this movie. Albeit, we have to admit, there were times when the narrative felt a little dragged, leaving gaps for viewers to possibly lose interest.
A True Gentleman also heavily tends to rely on the more sensual moments to keep the viewers hooked, but it doesn’t always work in favor of the movie. Nevertheless, Nehir’s character, played by Ebru Sahin, stands out as one of our favorite parts of the movie, and the plot twist in the second half makes it an intriguing watch overall.
