XO, Kitty Season 2 Review

The beloved To All the Boys I Loved Before trilogy captivated rom-com and teen drama fans worldwide, and its spin-off series, XO, Kitty, proved equally charming when it premiered in 2023. The show’s instant success led to a swift renewal, and since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installment: XO, Kitty Season 2, and it is finally here!

With its lighthearted tone and relatable characters, this series continues to win hearts following its release on Netflix. XO, Kitty Season 2 is now available on the streaming giant, and here’s our review which will help you decide whether or not this series deserves a spot on your watchlist this month.

Kitty Returns to KISS!

Anna Cathcart, aka Kitty, has grown up a lot since the first season of XO, Kitty and once again, she is the most adorable and charming part of the series, which should come as no surprise.

If you haven’t watched the first season of this Netflix series, we highly recommend doing so, especially if you want to better understand the characters and fully immerse yourself in the romance and drama that unfolds.

The first season’s 10 episodes set a high bar, making the 8-episode Season 2 feel slightly abbreviated – a disappointment for eager fans. Despite the condensed narrative, which occasionally feels rushed, Kitty’s journey remains engaging. Across these bite-sized episodes, she navigates self-discovery, family secrets, love, friendship, and more.

Kitty is back in Seoul after the winter break and after all the drama from Season 1. She has a second chance at KISS, all thanks to Yuri, and is determined to make things work, and stay single…we all know how that will pan out. Kitty isn’t over Yuri, in the slightest, but because of “fate” she is now roommates with her and Juliana. Kitty’s aim is to have a drama-free year that barely lasts one episode!

While Cathcart’s performance is the best part about XO, Kitty Season 2, it is evident that this latest installment has slightly drifted away from its main purpose. Kitty barely learns anything about her heritage, because the series mostly focuses on the drama among the younger characters, which might appeal to a certain demographic but takes focus from Kitty’s identity.

While we weren’t expecting XO, Kitty Season 2 to be serious in any way, it did feel like a missed opportunity at certain points but nonetheless, it was entertaining from start to finish. And of course, one cannot forget the highly anticipated appearance by Noah Centineo, aka Peter Kavinsky, which was one of our favorite parts of the latest season!

Conclusion

While Season 2’s conclusion leaves room for a potential third installment, its somewhat underwhelming narrative may impact fan enthusiasm. Only time will reveal if XO, Kitty can recapture the magic of its debut season.
