Apple TV+ has been churning out several original series in 2024 and joining the long list is Women in Blue, which had a two-episode premiere last week. This series revolves around 4 women who join the first female police force after the death of several women at the hands of a serial killer, called “The Undresser.”
When there was plenty of outrage from women all across Mexico City, the government decided it would be a wise idea to start a female police force, to dim the attention from the media.
However, as the women begin working, they soon realize that they barely have any means to actually catch the killer, so, they must take matters into their own hands. In this review, we will explore more of Women in Blue Episode 3 as the journey continues!
María Takes the Lead
Women in Blue Episode 3 begins with María having a nightmare where a woman is trapped in a car, tied and blindfolded. This indicates that the case of the serial killer has only just begun, despite the media coverage of him being caught.
The next morning, we see María continue to be a mother and wife, and these themes are often highlighted in the series, which makes the characters more relatable.

The beginning of the episode also gives viewers a glimpse into the other characters. Ángeles has a conversation with her grandma, who is curious if her granddaughter had a boyfriend and would certainly like her to find one.
As for Ángeles, as much as she would like to be like the rest, she has restricted herself to work and devoting the rest of her time to her grandma.
Meanwhile, Gabina is living with Valentina after her father slapped her for being in the police force. It is safe to say that the women have their own set of problems, but find some kind of solace when they come together for work, which also gives them a sense of purpose they didn’t have before this.

At work, María decides to take the lead on the case, which she is determined to solve even though the police claim they have caught the serial killer who is now dead.
Lucky for her, Valentina, Gabina, and Ángeles also join her on this mission as they first talk to Tito’s (the man who was caught) mother. Most of the episode of Women in Blue is spent rule-breaking for all the right reasons, but it feels a little too predictable.
Women often face sexism in their workplace and it is rather extreme, but also not unexpected in this setup. More than the actual case, the interesting parts of Women in Blue lie in the different stories of the women that serve as a metaphor for all the struggles women face even today.
