Created by Stephen Belber and starring Colman Domingo, Netflix’s latest limited series, The Madness, tells the gripping story of Muncie Daniels, who must stop at nothing to clear his name after stumbling upon a murder. Domingo delivers a standout performance as Muncie, making The Madness a compelling and binge-worthy thriller for all fans of the genre and beyond.
The Madness dives headfirst into the “conspiracy” theme, drawing you into a complex web of intrigue from the very first episode to the final scene. This gripping thriller has a tight hold on our attention, and here’s our review of the same – so be sure to keep reading until the end and let us know your thoughts on The Madness.
Colman Domingo’s Best Performance So Far!
Colman Domingo delivers a promising start in The Madness, and for that part, we give all credit to him and him only. As the series progresses, there’s some exceptional writing that comes and goes, but the pilot episode and the season finale remain the best, both written by Stephen Belber himself.
However, when we keep the writing aside for a moment and a few other elements that elevate the series, Domingo shines without any room for error.

Muncie Daniels is a media pundit and at a very successful point in his career at CNN, but it doesn’t take long for that to come crashing down. This pivotal moment marks the beginning of a conspiracy thriller theme that drives the series. Venturing into the woods alone is rarely a good idea, and had Muncie heeded this warning, his life might have taken a very different turn. However, this fateful decision sets the stage for The Madness to unfold.
The pilot episode’s setup is a crucial foundation for the entire series, as it expertly lays the groundwork for the events that unfold. After this introduction, the plot becomes relatively easy to follow despite the series’ ominous title.
Muncie’s life is turned upside down when he becomes involved in a shocking murder, the last thing he could have anticipated. As the investigation unfolds, the dominoes begin to fall, and all fingers point accusingly at Muncie.

It is evident that the protagonist is being framed for murder, and as the episodes go by, you find yourself attempting to keep up with the events and characters, but the focus remains on Muncie, expertly played by Colman Domingo, who steals the show time and again.
If it weren’t for Domingo, chances are The Madness wouldn’t have been as successful because his performance is packed with charisma and power. Undoubtedly, we also believe this is his best performance so far.
The sheer success of The Madness is also supported by a talented cast (Marsha Stephanie Blake, Thaddeus J. Mixson, and John Ortiz in particular) along with Domingo, some brilliantly framed camera angles to showcase fear, power, thrill, and desperation, and, of course, a background score that helps add to the overall vigor of the series.
We truly hope Netflix and Domingo continue to collaborate in future series and movies, especially when it comes to this particular genre!

Conclusion
The Madness promises to deliver a thriller like never before when it was first announced, and it was able to do so because of a stellar cast. We would love to know if this series has made its way to your watchlist!
