In 2022, The Bad Guys, an animated heist comedy movie produced by DreamWorks Animation Studios hit the screens and also garnered an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, two years later, Netflix has released a Halloween heist comedy television special titled The Bad Guys: Haunted Heist, and as October begins, so does the heist!
This special has been directed by Kevin Peaty and written by Aaron Blabey and is truly the best way to reign in the month of all things spooky. In this review, we will go over some of the highlights of The Bad Guys: Haunted Heist, which has a runtime of only 25 minutes!
Mr. Wolf Versus Reginald E. Scary!
The Bad Guys: Haunted Heist has the perfect setting for Halloween and the heist that shall follow as we quickly learn about a man named Reginald E. Scary and his precious amulet which he held on to until he died.
Before Scary passed away, he vowed that he would haunt anyone who stole the amulet. Mr. Wolf tells his story to the gang in his usual fashion – terrifying, exaggerated, and humorous.

Before they discuss the actual heist for the amulet, the gang relives some of the previous Halloween heist they spent together, one which also involved stealing a mummy, which was actually just Mr. Wolf in a coffin. But this time around, Mr. Wolf is beyond serious about this heist, because no one has ever stolen anything from Scary’s mansion before.
The Bad Guys are visibly terrified of this heist, but it doesn’t take much convincing before they hop into a car and make their way to Scary’s mansion, which must like his last name…is scary.
The Bad Guys: Haunted Heist keeps the humor intact for the entire runtime, without any dull moments, making sure there’s something to look forward to in every scene.

Once the Bad Guys are in the mansion, they’re a lot more terrified than they previously were because just about everything seems haunted and scary, including the piano, which is often used as a tool in horror movies. Since this episode is animated and also packs in the comedy, the overall narrative remains light-hearted, but you will find yourself curious.
Overall, The Bad Guys: Haunted Heist kept us entertained from start to finish, and we were satisfied when Mr. Wolf got a taste of his own medicine, which was a long time coming. This might not have been the spookiest addition to October, but Netflix has certainly served as an appetizer, the main course is yet to come!

Conclusion
The Bad Guys: Haunted Heist is whimsical, quirky, and a little spooky, but a breezy watch that serves as the tip of the iceberg to the spooky season. If you aren’t the biggest fan of jump scares that make your heart pount, this special might be right up your alley!
