Apple TV+ high-tech dramedy, Sunny, starring Rashida Jones is nothing short of exciting as the episodes move forward and the plot thickens. As the series slowly and steadily comes to an end (don’t worry, there are still a few episodes left) one is often left wondering what is the reality behind Masa’s life and whether or not he is dead, along with his and Suzie’s son.
Sunny Episode 6 barely gave any screentime to the robot who takes over the title of the series, however, she did appear at the end, only to have malfunctioned. This cliffhanger was one of a kind, and Episode 7 has a few answers.
So, here’s our review of the latest episode, including some of the highlights!
What Happened to Sunny?
Much like some of the other episodes, Episode 7 also begins with a flashback, and this time we learn more about the death of a politician which was previously mentioned in the series.
Hime was involved, which should come as no surprise, but his stance against the Yakuza was more than enough for her to kill him, establishing the fact that she would eliminate anyone who came in her way.

After the opening credits role, we are back in the present time where Mixxy and Suzie have woken up the next morning and Sunny is still not working. There’s some tension between the friends but Suzie is more focused on Sunny waking up, but Mixxy advises against it and asks her to wait until she’s back from work, despite there being some progress.
But of course, Suzie is far too impatient and decides to wake Sunny up. Unlike the usual Sunny who is cheery and always ready to help, this time around, that wasn’t the case.
Instead, the beloved homebot was snarky and even asked, “Why did you turn me on?” when Suzie admitted she didn’t need anything. It was odd, but as a viewer, this was an exciting turn of events!

Suzie soon realizes Sunny would rather watch TV than cook for her, which means something is really wrong. Meanwhile, Suzie’s mother-in-law, Noriko, is still in prison and living her best life and doesn’t appear to want to leave anytime soon.
There is plenty of trouble in paradise after Mixxy is fired and decides to call Suzie out on her “bullshit,” her words, not ours.
This fight between the two was a long time coming, and Mixxy was angrier when she realized that Suzie woke Sunny up. At the other end of the series, we learn a little more about Hime and the death of her father, where she believes that her cousin Jin was involved.
Although this is a darker part of the series, at this moment, it simply isn’t as interesting as what has happened to Sunny.

Mixxy and Suzie decide to take Sunny to the robot expert after she punches Mixxy in the stomach. Shockingly, Mixxy has decided to stick around after everything that has happened.
Soon enough, they realize that the Yakuza had most likely used Sunny to plant a GPS tracker on Suzie, but amidst it all, at least matters are resolved between Mixxy and Suzie. A silver lining in every cloud!
Sunny Episode 7 ends on an intriguing cliffhanger as Suzie and Mixxy go after the other tracker, hoping to find Masa and Zen, but instead come across an old man, who also delivered Sunny to Suzie.
Meanwhile, Sunny wakes up on her own at home, and there’s plenty more to come.
Conclusion
Sunny Episode 7 had us on the edge of our seats, often biting our nails, and in the best way possible. So, make sure you keep a lookout for our review of the next episode, next week, because things are about to get a lot more interesting!
