Ayrton Senna’s legacy continues with Netflix’s latest Brazilian biographical drama miniseries, directed by Vicente Amorim and Júlia Rezende, with Fabiano Gullane and Caio Gullane as executive producers. The legendary story of this racing driver has been told before, but frankly, it never gets old, which is why Senna is a delightful watch for existing fans of the national hero and those who intend on jumping on the bandwagon.
Gabriel Leone shines as he takes over the role of Senna in the Netflix series, all of which is now available to stream on Netflix. While Senna has been promoted as a “miniseries,” the six episodes range from 53 minutes to 71 minutes, which can feel a little overwhelming to begin with. Nevertheless, here’s our review of the latest series and one of the last releases of November on Netflix!
Gabriel Leone Delivers the Ultimate Portrayal of Ayrton Senna
At 31, this series is undoubtedly Gabriel Leone’s biggest project so far and one that will be remembered for years and possibly decades to come. Biographical dramas can often be tricky because there’s so much to uncover, yet it must be done in a manner that pays homage to the source, and with six long episodes, the question remains – does Senna honor Ayrton Senna’s legacy and memory?

Here’s our most honest take about Senna on Netflix in the briefest way possible: It tries to do too much in too little time. We’re not saying this miniseries should have been any longer than it already was, but the creators could have attempted not to fill it up to the brim as much as they did. Too many characters were introduced whose stories went untold, there were too many racing cliches, and yet something felt missing.
However, we have to admit, this series is a treat for the existing fans of the Formula 1 champion because they learn a little more about him. Of course, this escalates in a more dramatized manner compared to a documentary or a book, but it works. Senna lets the viewers in on several parts of Ayrton’s life, from his childhood to his relationships and his fast-paced career on the track, which remains the highlight.

Two elements of this miniseries truly stood out to us – the first being the racing. Now, this should come as no surprise, but while the creators did heavily focus on introducing different people from Ayrton’s life and career in this series, they also focused on the part that mattered the most, aka him being on the track, doing his best. Some of these sequences stood out beautifully and made Senna a thrilling stream!
Apart from the racing action, our favorite element of Senna was Gabriel Leone and his stunning portrayal of Ayrton, which truly pays homage to the legend. At the end of the day, that’s what a biographical drama intends to do, and we believe Leone could have done this as a one-man army. However, the talented supporting cast was a cherry on top!

Conclusion
We don’t believe Senna is currently the most binge-worthy series on Netflix, but we’d recommend giving it a watch, especially if you’re someone who indulges in watching Formula 1, and or want to learn more about Ayrton Senna. Do let us know in the comments what you think about this series!
