Pachinko Season 2 has been an exceptional addition to Apple TV+ so far as we touch base into the second half of the season. As the series unfolds, each episode delivers unexpected twists and surprising revelations, expertly supported by strategic time jumps.
These time jumps inject a level of freshness to the series, along with some brilliant character development which is much-needed in Pachinko Season 2. In this review, we’re here to take a look at the recent installment, aka Episode 6, and go over some of the highlights!
Does Noa Pass His Exam?
Pachinko Season 2 Episode 6 begins by showcasing a stark contrast between Sunja’s life in 1989 and her life post-World War II when she’s operating the noodle stand with the help of her old mother.
To spend your young life serving others food while with little to nothing for your own, and then having tacos handed to you decades later so you can eat with a margarita certainly feels like a whiplash moment, and is portrayed beautifully in this episode.

Noa’s test results and the aftermath of the same are an important part of Episode 6 as they become the reason Sunja and her family have to face the reality of the financial burdens that loom over them and will continue to for the near future.
Keeping the financial aspect aside, the moment Sunja finds out that her son passed the exam will make your heart swell, making it our favorite scene of the episode.
An older Noa was essential for Pachinko Season 2, which is one of the main reasons we welcomed this recent time jump. Noa’s character arc continues to be one of our favorites, aside from Sunja, as we see him slowly come out of his shell, whilst still being mindful that he is the man of the family.
Meanwhile, Sunja is quick to reassure her son that they will figure the expenses out, without the help of Hansu.

Despite the reassurance from his mother, Noa decides that he will not go to university and take up a job instead, and neither Sunja nor Hansu are on board with this decision. Hansu also continues to play an important role in Pachinko Season 2, but the focus remains on Noa’s future, and Sunja makes it her priority to make sure Noa knows what he will miss out on if he decides not to go to university.
Oftentimes, the number of different storylines in Pachinko as a series can be a little overwhelming to follow, especially when we think about Solomon and Noami’s subplot, and their break-up in Episode 6, which goes beyond their identities.
Nevertheless, Pachinko Season 2 Episode 6 has plenty to offer to the viewers, much like the previous episodes, and continues to remain an engaging journey.

Conclusion
Now that Noa might have made his decision to go to university after his mother’s emotional story about her past, things are about to change for the entire family, more of which will be explored in the coming episodes.
