Love Next Door’s season finale, aka Episode 16, is now officially streaming on Netflix. However, before you stream this episode, we highly recommend bracing yourself for some emotional moments and an overall fantastic episode. Over 2 months, this K-drama has continued to deliver some of the most engaging and wholesome narratives to the fans, and it does so once again in the finale!
Seung-hyo and Seok-ryu’s journey was heartwarming, quirky, and extremely tender in this series. Still, plenty of credit goes to the creators for paying attention to the supporting characters, who raised the bar with every episode. In this article, we will share our thoughts on Love Next Door Episode 16, so beware of spoilers!
A Heartwarming Epilogue
The pilot episode and the season finale are two of the shortest episodes of the K-drama, which likely works in favor of the series, as much as we would have loved a two-hour finale!
Love Next Door Episode 16 begins with Seung-hyo and Seok-ryu’s families having a meal together, which also eventually gives the couple some time to sneak away to Seok-ryu’s room since they now have the stamp of approval.

Meanwhile, trouble in paradise begins when Dan-ho finds out that Mo-eum has been assigned to work at the South Pole, but he learns this news from her co-workers. Instead of having a big reaction in front of her, he decides to take her out of for a date, because that’s what she wanted. The men in this K-drama have always impressed us!
When the time comes, a little later into the episode, Mo-eum and Dan-ho have a conversation about her going away to the South Pole, he is the perfect understanding boyfriend, and Yeon-du is the cherry on top. It was an emotionally sweet exchange between the three, and escalated a lot better than we had expected.

This episode also shines a light on the blossoming relationship between Seok-ryu and Seung-hyo, and how much they have evolved since they were children. In addition, Bae Geun-sik, Seok-ryu’s father decides he wants to renovate his diner for Seok-ryu because he feels like he never did anything for her. This finale showcases the best parts of all the characters.
Time comes when everyone has to say goodbye to Mo-eum, and Seok-ryu begins a new chapter in her life at work, where Geun-sik comes on board as her advisor. the loose ends are slowly being tied as we inch towards the end of the episode, but of course, the series won’t end without a bang!

While we might have used the word “wholesome” frequently to describe scenes and Love Next Door as a whole, there’s no better what to express just how moments are in this K-drama. Seok-ryu and Seung-hyo also decide to wait a year to get married, while Seung-hyo’s parents recreate their wedding. Again, wholesome.
Toward the end of Episode 16, there’s a 10-month time jump which works as the perfect epilogue for Love Next Door. In the end, we see a brief argument between Seung-hyo and Seok-ryu, and no, this isn’t a cliffhanger but just goes to show that this couple can have endless arguments and still be together, just as they have for the last three decades.
