Created by Pablo Illanes, the Netflix series Fake Profile premiered in 2023. Despite its modest 5.7 IMDb rating, the show gained a devoted fan base and impressive viewership, prompting a swift renewal for a second season.

We’re now eager to continue following Camila’s complex journey of love and deceit in Fake Profile Season 2, which promises to unravel even more secrets and lies. In this review, we dive into the highlights of the latest installment which will help you decide whether or not this series deserves a spot on your watchlist.

A Little Bit of Average Everything!

Fake Profile has a notable ace up its sleeve: its liberal use of steamy content. The series relies heavily on sensual and sexual scenes to enhance the storyline, which otherwise feels somewhat unoriginal.

However, in today’s television landscape, explicit content is no longer a shocking tactic. In fact, it’s become a staple in many modern dramas, making it a calculated move to captivate audiences.

The first season of Fake Profile paled in comparison to other steamy dramas on the platform, and unfortunately, Season 2 follows suit. In simple terms, we believe Fake Profile Season 2 was unnecessary. Watching its 10 episodes feels more like a chore than entertainment. If you’re skeptical, feel free to judge for yourself, but we wouldn’t recommend it.

The steamy tone is set from the outset in Episode 1 of Fake Profile Season 2, with a brief but telling scene that hints at the show’s reliance on sensuality. Meanwhile, Camila begins therapy, recounting a recurring dream as she struggles to overcome past traumas.

The episode’s title, “The Forbidden Dream,” is a bit on the nose, but effectively sets the stage for the season’s exploration of Camila’s psyche.

Carolina Miranda returns to play Camila, and despite her countless efforts, the lack of seriousness scattered around this series pulls focus from her ability to act. Much like the previous season, this installment also tries too hard to be something it is not, and more often than not, we are pulled away from the actual premise because of gimmicks that don’t add any depth.

Fake Profile Season 2 doesn’t keep us hooked despite the endless efforts to throw in twists, turns, and the steamiest scenes possible. It simply doesn’t work. However, if you have been a fan of this series from the previous season, it might be an enjoyable experience, but it isn’t unique, or better. The screenplay also falls flat, and there’s no saving this season!

Conclusion

Fake Profile Season 2 is messy yet easy to follow, which in some ways makes it less of a drag. But, if Netflix needs to renew more series, there are plenty more options and we’re certain the subscribers would agree!
