Netflix’s new docuseries chronicles the remarkable comeback of American football quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who defied the odds after a devastating Achilles injury. The series takes viewers on an intimate journey of Rodgers’ recovery, while also delving into the most pivotal and headline-grabbing moments of his career so far.

Aaron Rodgers: Enigma is now available on the streaming giant, and this docuseries isn’t just for Rodgers’ fans or those who love football, but for anyone who has been intrigued by this personality and all the drama that has surrounded him. Keep reading to check out our review!

A Quarterback’s Healing Journey

The three-part docuseries, comprising episodes titled Becoming, Awakening, and Reckoning, chronicles Aaron Rodgers’ transformative journey after his injury. Despite the intriguing trailer, the series took an unexpected turn, defying initial expectations – but whether or not that worked in favor of the series is indeed the million-dollar question.

The first episode of the docuseries begins with Rodgers getting a large tattoo, and the tattoo artist expresses that he had no idea who Rodgers was prior to this appointment. The tattoo is a blend of an infinity symbol and a dragon, and this little detail is the first of many as we get a deep look into the quarterback’s life and what appears to be his healing journey.

Rodgers has been one of the most controversial figures in the NFL and this docuseries doubles down on that notion also paying attention to the COVID vaccination fiasco which had taken social media by storm.

Rodgers isn’t here to address every little controversy or rumor about him but instead, focus on his “alternative lifestyle” that helped him.

Aaron Rodgers: Enigma often feels all over the place with very little structure which doesn’t hold our attention for all three episodes. The second episode of the series was probably the most interesting one out of the three because it focuses on the aforementioned alternative lifestyle and the different aspects of it. This particular will be especially intriguing for Rodgers’ fans who are most used to seeing him on the field.

This docuseries is unique, to say the least, but because of how scattered it felt, the purpose felt missing.

What was the end goal? We will never know! But we did learn more about Rodgers than we thought we would have, and how different his journey has been compared to any other player who might have faced a similar injury or controversies.

Conclusion

Aaron Rodgers: Enigma doesn’t quite hit the spot, even with three hour-long episodes, but if you’re been curious about the quarterback’s whereabouts since his devastating injury, this docuseries has plenty of answers.
