ODISHA| BHUBANESWAR| : A disturbing incident has come to light in Odisha’s Khordha district, amidst the nationwide controversy surrounding ‘The Kerala Story’ and the contentious issue of love jihad. A 27-year-old woman has filed a written complaint with the Khordha Model Police Station, alleging that she was brainwashed by a youth into converting to Islam under the false promise of marriage after being in a relationship with him for eight years.
According to the complainant’s FIR, the accused deceived her by assuming a false identity and entering into a romantic relationship with her. He then allegedly coerced her into converting to Islam, engaged in a physical relationship with her, and threatened to make her private video public.
The girl has further claimed that the accused had multiple affairs and is now planning to marry another girl. Based on her complaint, the police have arrested the accused.
However, the girl has since expressed concerns about her safety, stating that the accused has strong political connections in the state. She has also alleged that the police have not included the appropriate sections in the case according to her complaint. Unfortunately, the police’s response to these allegations could not be obtained at this time.
Meanwhile, in Bhubaneswar, a group of young people organized a demonstration to protest against the alleged ‘love jihad.’ The protesters voiced slogans against love jihad, holding placards that read, ‘Save Hindu girls’ and ‘Love Jihad will not be tolerated on Lord Jagannath’s land.’
“We recently watched ‘The Kerala Story,’ but we never expected such an incident to occur in our own neighborhood, especially on the outskirts of the capital city, Bhubaneswar. We strongly condemn Love Jihad. We demand strict action against the accused in the Khordha case and urge the authorities to identify the masterminds behind such incidents,” demanded one of the protestors.
The incident has sparked a wave of concern and calls for justice, emphasizing the need to address such issues and protect individuals from being exploited in the name of religion and love. The outcome of this case will determine the course of action against those involved and may influence the ongoing discourse surrounding love jihad in the country.
