Adam Brody and Kristin Bell have teamed up for Erin Foster’s latest rom-com, Nobody Wants This, which is now streaming on Netflix. Brody and Bell might appear to be an unlikely pair, to begin with, but once you press play and binge all ten episodes of their series, you are bound to change your mind.

Amid all the horror, true crime, gore, and thrill, we’ve been blessed with a good old rom-com that one might want to stream at the end of a long day. In this review, we will explore a few other elements of this series and what worked in favor of it. So if you’re on the fence about Nobody Wants This, make sure you stick around!

Adam Brody and Kristen Bell Set the Stage on Fire

The first few minutes of the pilot episode in Nobody Wants This is proof that this series is going to be a relatable ride, especially for millennials and beyond, who make up a large demographic for Netflix.

The episode begins with Joanne escaping a bad first date where the man wouldn’t stop talking about his dead grandmother, and then she unpacks it further in a podcast with her sister, Morgan.

Meanwhile, Noah finds himself in a unique situation when he sees his girlfriend wearing an engagement ring even though he never proposed. Turns out, she found it in his locker, skipped a few steps, and decided to wear it. Safe to say that our protagonists, Joanne and Noah are different from each other, in unparalleled situations, but this setup works brilliantly for the series.

Noah and Joanne’s “meet-cute” like most other rom-coms is incredibly charming but not too straightforward. Nevertheless, sparks fly, and if you weren’t already invested in Nobody Wants This, this should ideally be the turning point.

We have to admit, there has been a scarcity of rom-coms in recent years, or at least good rom-coms, and looks like that void has been filled.

This Netflix series explores a familiar terrain of the trope where couples that don’t make sense together end up together, but there’s something so uniquely refreshing about Nobody Wants This, and while plenty of credit must go to the writers, and of course, Foster, we can’t help but bow down to the remarkable performances delivered by Adam Brody and Kristen Bell.

While Noah and Joanne’s story is one for the books, the supporting characters in this series also deserve a mention, especially Morgan and Sasha, played by Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons respectively.

All ten episodes of the series have a generous amount of entertainment, even during the low points, so to speak. No matter what goes on, you will find yourself rooting for the unlikely pair.

If you decide to stream Nobody Wants This, fair warning, you’re in for a wild ride of love, jealousy, sisterhood, brotherhood, religion, sex, and so much more. This series gives and gives with each episode, and the season finale has us wanting more, we’re hoping we get to see Brody and Bell pair up more often because they were unstoppable!
